To Patients Wishing to Take Proton Therapy at the SCC

Consult with Your Own Doctor

Proton therapy is expected to provide very good effects with only a few side effects. However, not all of the diseases can be treated with proton therapy, and moreover, even among the diseases listed as applicable, some cases can be evaluated as unsuitable depending on symptoms and conditions. In addition, it should be taken into consideration that recurrence might be identified in the neighboring areas after this localized treatment.

At the SCC, applicability is thoroughly assessed beforehand with examinations including tests required for the process, and further examinations and medical care are provided to follow up after proton therapy. When it is difficult for patients to get regular checkups at the SCC after taking proton therapy, they will be suggested to take follow-up examinations at the medical institutions which originally referred them to the SCC.

Taking all of the above into account, please go to your own doctor first and discuss about the possibility with him/her.
